Who We Are

Lainie Kringen-Scholtz

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Scholtz is from Madison, SD where she grew up riding horses and spending lots of time on her grandparent's farm. She always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and was inspired daily by her Grandpa Grant's passionate love for all animals. Dr. Scholtz attended South Dakota State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She then attended Iowa State University where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. With a passion to provide new and exciting services to South Dakota, Dr. Scholtz became certified in animal chiropractic through Options for Animals, veterinary acupuncture through CuraCore, and veterinary kinesiology taping through RockTape. After vet school, she was blessed to work at Prairie View Veterinary Clinic in Miller, SD, Big Sioux Veterinary Care in Brookings, SD, and Twin Lakes Animal Clinic in Madison, SD. In her spare time, Dr. Scholtz is an avid barrel racer in the WPRA Badlands Circuit, SDRA and local barrel racing associations.

Andy Scholtz

Co-Owner

Andy is from Comfrey, MN where he grew up on an Angus cattle and row crop farm where his passion for agriculture grew. Andy has been involved in the Angus industry his whole life and prides himself in producing high class show heifers and seed stock. He attended South Dakota State University where he double majored in Agronomy and Agriculture Business as well as conducted extensive research in soy beans after graduation. Andy met Lainie at SDSU while they were both attending AI school; how romantic! After graduation, Andy worked at CHS Northern Plains in Faulkton, SD and later transferred to CHS Brandon in Colton, SD as a sales agronomist. Andy is the proud owner of Scholtz Cattle Company and is active in showing at the local cattle shows, judging 4-H shows, and coaching the next generation of cattlemen and women. For True North, Andy is the ever-supportive husband and repairman.

Maggie Kringen

Veterinary Assistant

Maggie is from Madison, SD where she grew up riding horses with her sister, spending lots of time her grandparents's farm, loving on all of her pets, and investing in her creative talents. Maggie attended South Dakota State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She continued to further her education and received her Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Nutrition. Maggie is an American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer, American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist, and a Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Instructor. With her advanced degrees, Maggie works at Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD helping people develop healthy lifestyles. As if Maggie is not busy enough, she also runs her own business, MJK Creative, where she makes fluid art and can be found at many arts festivals throughout the region and on Facebook. For True North, Maggie is a compassionate veterinary assistant that focuses on the well-being of your pet. 

Nicole Johnson

Veterinary Assistant

Nicole and her family moved to South Dakota from California five years ago and never looked back! She has spent over twenty years in the veterinary industry, all while raising her family with her wonderful husband, Jacob. The Johnsons live near Madison, SD where they raise top-notch Wirehaired Pointing Griffons. Check them out at 5-jgriffons.com! When Nicole is not busy on the farm or upland hunting, you can find her training her dogs, riding horses and cheering her three kiddos on in their many activities, "Go Bulldogs!" Nicole also enjoys reading, gardening, and coffee in her spare time. Nicole's extensive experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine is a huge asset to our patient care.
